Alexandra Genova is a BAFTA-winning documentary director, journalist and creative producer based in London. Her work spans documentary film, broadcast television and digital media, creating visually led stories about culture, identity and social justice.
Her films have been commissioned by organisations including the BBC, Sky Documentaries, ITV, Together TV and TIME. Her short documentary Our Land won a BAFTA in the Short Form category in 2022 and screened at several BAFTA-qualifying film festivals. She also directed the BFI-funded documentary The Keeper (2023), which follows a Scottish landowner attempting to challenge concentrated land ownership from within.
She is currently directing Casa Mia, a documentary exploring the lives of women connected to the Neapolitan Camorra.
Alongside her filmmaking, Alexandra works as a journalist and has written for publications including The Guardian, The New York Times, TIME, National Geographic, The Economist and Al Jazeera. A trained magazine journalist with over a decade of experience, she specialises in long-form storytelling and character-driven reporting.
Alexandra is of Native American, Italian and Welsh descent. She was born in New York City and raised in England, and holds dual US and UK citizenship. She has a Master’s degree in Magazine Journalism from City University London.
